Our baby girl turned 4 on July 10th. I'm not really sure how that happened. I really think she should still be a tiny baby or a little 2 year old toddler. In fact though, she has turned into a smart, beautiful, vibrant, fun little girl. For her first and third birthdays we had a pool party at the neighborhood pool. For her second birthday we threw a big 60th birthday party for my dad and just kind of included her in that. Each year there have been TONS of people and lots of fun too! This year though, the home owners association limited the number of people we could have, so we kept it small. We had her pick 8 friends to invite and kept it at that. It was a great time!! We had it at 10:30 in the morning on Saturday the 9th. The pool wasn't at all crowded and everyone had so much fun swimming and playing. We are so blessed to have such a great daughter, and she is lucky to have such kind, generous friends!!

I really wanted to keep everything simple this year. We had pink lemonade (water and Capri Suns in the cooler), fruit, and pretzels

The goody bags were all pool/swim related things the kids could use while at the party. Sunglasses, diving sticks, water balls, water balloons, etc.

Cabo Trip

Jacob and I really like to go on an Adults Only trip each summer. Our wedding anniversary is in June so we try to do a trip as a gift to ourselves. We were married in Jamaica - we're beach people, so our summer trips are to beach areas. We've gone to the Cancun area twice, once in 2009 and once in 2008. We went by ourselves those times, but really wanted to get a group together this year. We ended up with a group of 6. Jacob's college roommates (who are brothers) and their wife and girlfriend were able to go. Since we'd already been to Cancun, we decided to head to Cabo San Lucas this year. We had a great time! My mom was able to fly down from Maryland to stay with Makayla (and Tate) while we were gone. It was so nice knowing she was having fun while we were gone!

We were scheduled to leave Thursday afternoon and return Tuesday evening. Jacob woke up on Wednesday early in the morning with horrible pains in his back and side. We headed to CareNow and ended up getting CT scans. He had a kidney stone. The doctor recommended we postpone our trip until it passed and Jacob was in such pain we weren't sure if we'd have to do that or not. He's a trooper though and decided he could tough it out. He did pretty well and we still had a great time.

We arrived in Cabo on Tuesday evening and had dinner. Wednesday we went on a snorkeling/beach hopping tour which was a huge disappointment. The water was FREEZING and we had to jump off of the boat and swim to the beach. We spent time on Lover's beach and looked at the Goonie's rocks. We were stranded there for a long time since our tour boat disappeared and the guide didn't know where it went. When it finally came back we swam through what felt like the Bering Sea to climb back on the boat. We went snorkeling, but the water was cloudy since a storm had been through. We were suppose to have lunch on an 'island' (which was really an old dock in the ocean) but we asked just to go back to the harbor. Not the greatest time, but we made the best of it.

The next day we went on another excursion where we had a canopy tour, went over scary rope bridges, repelled down a mountain, and did some rock climbing. It was awesome!

We went on a banana raft thing behind a boat one day and all ended up bruised and aching, I'm pretty sure I had a concussion too. It sounds terrible, but was really fun.
